B.Sc. Zoology

Eligibility

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three years integrated program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate examination (HSC / XII) conducted by the Maharashtra/other Indian states Boards or equivalent examination.

MCVC Stream: A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three years integrated program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) must have passed the Higher Secondary Vocational courses School Certificate (HSC / XII) conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Pune.

Program Specific Outcomes

On completion of B.Sc. in Zoology the learners should be enriched with knowledge and be able to-

PSO1: Acquire:

(i) familiarity in the areas of Zoology like taxonomy, physiology, endocrinology population ecology, genetics, molecular biology, genetic engineering, biochemistry, evolution, bioinformatics, chick embryology, bioprospecting, zoopharmacognosy and zoogeography

(ii) entrepreneurial skills in the field of Applied Zoology

PSO2: Develop:

(i) understanding of specializations of Zoology like Haematology, Immunology, toxicology, pathology, forensic science and fishery biology

(ii) critical interrogatory skills on various biological issues related to environmental management and wildlife management

PSO3: Recognize

(i) importance of statistics as an important tool of analysis and its applications in biological sciences.

(ii) significance of animal tissue culture, toxicology, ecology as specialized areas of research in Zoology

PSO4: Appreciate

(i) the treasure of biodiversity and adopt an eco-friendly approach towards life ensuring sustainable use of resources

(ii) the importance scientific writing and documentation of research

PSO5: Demonstrate

(i) handling of various instruments and equipment in laboratory

(ii) ability to use skills for interpretation of results in Experimental Zoology
