B.Sc. Chemistry

Eligibility

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three years integrated program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate examination (HSC / XII) conducted by the Maharashtra/other Indian states Boards or equivalent examination.

MCVC Stream: A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three years integrated program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) must have passed the Higher Secondary Vocational courses School Certificate (HSC / XII) conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Pune.

Program Specific Outcomes

On completion of the B.Sc. Chemistry the learners should be enriched with knowledge and be able-

PSO1:  Acquire 

  1. sound knowledge about the fundamentals and applications of various chemical and scientific theories.
  2. better understanding of good laboratory practices and safety.

PSO2: Recognize

  1. differences, needs and advantages of different branches of chemistry like analytical, organic, inorganic, physical, environmental, polymer and biochemistry etc.
  2. reactivity of various compounds and their applications.

PSO3: Describe

  1. nomenclature, stereochemistry, structures, reactivity, chemical formulae, and mechanism of the chemical reactions.
  2. the working principles and operating procedure of the instruments/equipments.
  3. causes of environmental pollution, environmental pollution act and the methods for environmental pollution control.

PSO4: Select

  1. an appropriate technique for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemicals in laboratories and in industries.
  2. appropriate chemical tools, models and other scientific equipment’s for better understanding of the topic.

PSO5: Design

  1. synthetic strategies for small target molecules by retrosynthetic analysis.
  2. methods for analysis of given analyte.

PSO6: Develop 

  1. research-oriented skills, analytical skills and problem-solving skills
