The library of Mithibai College (Jitendra Library) is one of the best libraries in the city of Mumbai with the State of Art Infrastructure.  It is serving its users from the inception of College, i.e. from year 1961.Library is situated at ground floor occupying carpet area of 6900 sq.ft., and is entirely air-conditioned supported with modern technologies like Wi-Fi, Digital CCTV, RFID gates, Self-Issue and Book Drop Kiosk.Library users can access Online Databases through Wi-Fi. Library shares its resources under inter library loan with other libraries of SVKM. Library in-house functions are automated through KOHA software, which assists users to locate reading the material, by title, author and subject queries. Online Catalogue of books and non-book material is available through the Union Web OPAC.
Library caters to a clientele of students, faculty and staff members with its profound collection of Books, Journals, CDs and other resource material. An ‘Open Access’ lends a hand to the users to pick a book of their choice.Library has been upgraded with the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to secure its collection.  To move along with the technologies, Library is now equipped with the Self Issue Kiosk for users to issue books without the Library staff intervention and also installed a Book Drop Machine, wherein the books can be returned through automated systems.
For the differently abled students Library has procured a Braille Embosser, which helps the students to print the required study material in Braille Language.  

Reading Hall and book transaction time:

Monday to Friday:  07:00 am to 07:00 pm.

Saturdays: 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Closed on Sundays and Public holidays.

Home Lending

Students can borrow the books against their identity card. Books can be reissued in case of no further demand for the said book. Students can refer to more books and periodicals against their Identity Cards in the premises only.

Users should return library material on or before the due date mentioned on the book. A fine of Re.1/- per day will be charged from students for the overdue material.

Reference Service

Library has a good collection of reference sources such as encyclopedias, yearbooks, dictionaries etc. Library users can obtain information from these sources under Reference Services.

Book Bank

Library started Book Bank facility to the economically backward students by providing a set of books to them from the academic year 2015-2016.

New Arrivals

Newly added books are displayed for a week on the New Arrivals display shelf in library. In addition, book covers are virtually displayed on the library webpage.

Institutional Repository

Mithibai College library has developed an Institutional Repository. It contains full text access to the research papers by Mithibai college faculty and research scholars and college past question papers. Users can browse Repository within the campus.

Bibliographic Service

Library users can avail this on-demand facility of obtaining an exhaustive bibliography on the subject of their interest.

Literature Search

Library provides help in literature search as and when requested by researchers.

Reprography

A reprography (xerox) service is available at the entrance to the library on payment basis. While photocopying library material, members should not infringe copyright laws.

Current Awareness Service

Library compiles newspaper clippings on education and allied subjects.

Online Databases

Library has subscribed to N-LIST (from INFLIBNET) database. As a part of resource sharing, Mithibai Library users also make a use of SVKM subscribed databases. Databases from both the sources are accessible globally using login ID and passwords. Students can contact librarian to obtain their login ID and password.

Database Hub

Database Hub provides well-equipped computer systems for faculty, Undergraduate, Postgraduate students, researchers to browse online databases on the internet for their academic purpose.

Inter Library Loan

Books are borrowed from SVKM institutions & NMIMS University libraries for a short period for students and faculty for reference. Likewise, books are loaned to SVKM institutions & NMIMS University libraries for a short period.

User Training and Orientation: The library conducts user training for students in their classrooms as well as in the library in a group of 10 students at a time.

Book Exhibitions: The library arranges a book exhibition every year and invites publishers and vendors to display books for sale. Users may obtain resources at concessional rates during the exhibition.

Book Displays: Library arranges Display of books on various themes such as Women’s Day, Marathi Bhasha Din, subject wise display of books etc.
