SVKM’s Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institute of Science & Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics, is one of the most desired destinations for education in India. It started its mission of “Ghyanyagna” in 1961, as a college offering Arts & Science education. Mithibai College extended its wings to initiate commerce education in 1981. Since then, the college has broadened its horizons, offering various skill enhancement graduate, post-graduate and Ph.D. Programmes. Today, an approximate number of 10,000 students are availing quality education at junior college and undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the institute.
EDUCATION WORLD 2020 has ranked our college 5th, at the all-India level and 2nd, among the autonomous colleges in Maharashtra. INDIA TODAY 2020 ranked Mithibai College, 1st in Mumbai, in Arts & Science streams and 2nd in the Commerce stream. On a pan India basis, the college ranks among the top 10 private colleges, offering best value for money.
The University Grants Commission conferred graded autonomy to the institute, in the year 2018-2019. Since then, the college has striven with renewed enthusiasm to ensure the overall development of the primary stakeholders, the students. Mithibai College has upgraded the curricula of the existing educational programmes, developed and implemented new programmes which will enable them to secure better job opportunities on the successful completion of the programmes.
The Management, SVKM, is committed to offering quality education. The college is provided with state-of-the-art infrastructure, like a well-equipped and modern library, laboratories with advanced instruments and modern class-rooms enabled with smart boards for an enriching learning experience. The field of education has undergone a great paradigm shift in recent times, owing to the burgeoning expansion in the space of new technology, powered by scientific and industrial revolution. The teaching faculty at Mithibai College has consistently adapted to these changes and acquired various skills to facilitate inclusive learning. Academic autonomy has empowered the college to upgrade the teaching-learning process. The curricula are reinforced with relevant projects to be undertaken by the students, and an emphasis on mastering soft skills, as an inevitable part of the skill sets to be acquired by the student. The curricula are updated every two years to remain on par with the demands of the market. Projects, industrial visits, seminars, workshops, guest lectures support the overall learning of the students.
